I love getting unexpected little treats in the mail. When I received my Marimekko package, they included a promotional newspaper. Patterns for Life is more than just an extended ad; it is actually engaging reading material, with a wonderful timeline on the history of Marimekko, and features on the manufacturing and creative processes that make up their products. If you live anywhere near a Marimekko store (which are pretty scarce here in the US) it would be worth dropping in to see if they have the papers to give away.

Pages of Marimekko prints
Another nice bonus: the dress came wrapped in a super Marimekko print paper. This print is called Satula.

ooh that looks neat! I’ll see if I can pick one up at either or Both of the Marimekko stores in NYC tomorrow!
hey, I think I got my copy at Crate and Barrel in their Marimekko mini-store (here in LA it’s at the Grove). I’m loving your series of articles on this. In the 60′s my mom was obsessed with their inspiring San Francisco shop at Ghirardelli Square, so much juicy color in one place!
Where could I get this on the West Coast???
Check at Crate and Barrel, as Jen in Los Angeles did.
