Ad Campaign – Brilliant Swimwear, 1957

Simply divine, my dear… such lines, such form… so obviously Brilliant!  Quite remarkable, really, the shaped-to-you-perfection, coaxed along by fitted inner-bras… and darling, you must have noticed, Brilliant Swimsuits feature side zippers that make them the easiest things to slip into, absolute marvels when it comes to that quick change into something dry.  An utterly devastating selection to wear with or without straps.

I love the look of this ad, with its Italian inspired hats and ultra-stylish women, darling!

I’d never really thought about zippers in swimsuits, but it does seem that they are usually placed center back, even though a side zipper would be easier for most people to manipulate.

  1. Look at them strike those poses! I showed a similar image in my Fashion Seminar class a few years ago and all of the girls said they would wear these bathing suits to the club. I suppose this suits cover more than most present day dresses. . . .

  2. Such flattering cossies. Much more elegant than the barely there thongs, strips and straps of some today’s designs!

  3. Just remembered … I think a ‘thong’ means a kind of shoe in the US, rather than the ‘G-string’ style knicker shape that it describes here in the UK!

  4. Katie Beck

    Brilliant indeed!
