A Friend Is…

Remember those little sentimental books by Peanuts creator, Charles Schultz in which the first line was “A friend is…”? Today I’d like to copy the Peanuts gang.

A friend is someone who knows you well enough to send you the most marvelous little gift that she knows you’ll love.  That friend is Amanda, who the week before entering the hospital for knee surgery, thought enough of me to send off these great vintage sports themed towels.  They are great, and so is she!

A friend is someone who will travel halfway around the world just to meet you.  Well, maybe not just to meet you, but to go out of their way to get together.  I’ll be meeting Gina of Americana Classic Vintage in January, all the way from Sweden!

A friend is someone like Monica who writes lovely guest posts for you, and then says the nicest things about you on her own blog.

A friend is someone who will take on a fund-raising project to help homeless animals find loving homes just because you ask her to (and because she has a huge heart!).  Karen of Small Earth Vintage did just this.

A friend is someone who continues to read and support your blog writings, and for that I thank each and every one of you.  Last December when I moved this journal to WordPress, I was very discouraged because my traffic dropped so dramatically, but thanks to all of you  readership has grown throughout the year to surpass anything I ever thought to be possible.

So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you!  Here’s to friendship!

What pretty guest towels! I wonder if they were in the ladies’ dressing room at a country club in the 1930’s ?
