Woman’s Home Companion, August 1934

I’m a bit under the weather today, so I’ve got no witty words about this lovely cover from 1934.

Feel free to add your own caption in the comments!

I have no witty comments, but love the yellow check swimsuit and the cover~up jacket is darling! If I were to dare to wear a swimsuit at this “middle age” time of my life, this would be it. Hope you feel better soon.

  2. She’s saying “Who’s that strange smiling guy I can see in my compact mirror? I seriously don’t remember inviting him along!”

. . . . . and the illustration is divine. I can almost feel the sunshine! Thanks for sharing and hope you’re feeling better very soon. 🙂

  3. Lizzie, you give us so much fun on a daily basis that you deserve ‘time off’ to take care of yourself.
As for this wonderful illustration: I am always dumbfounded by how modern and sassy women were by that time–It’s hard to imagine how much had changed for them in only 20 years (right now we can wear 20 year old clothes and hairstyles and not be noticed).
–hoping you’re back on top of your game soon!

  4. I appreciate the well-wishes. I’m so rarely sick that I really go down when a bug does latch onto me!

I just love how she is using that mirror to check him out!
