The other day when I said that I enjoyed getting emails from readers who have something interesting to share, I was hoping it would inspire a few good letters. I was not disappointed!
Sarah in California sent photos of a Catalina sweater she found. She knew I’d like it because of the ad above, which I posted five years ago. You see, her sweater is very similar to the one in the back of the ad, with the same pattern and the tie ends. She says that even the fit is the same. It’s always fun to find an ad for a vintage item, especially something like a sweater which can be pretty difficult to place a date on.

In my opinion, It also shows how long this blog has been around.
It would be very nice if we can see a mini-revamp on the blog to give it a more vintage look?

What a nice find! It’s fun to see these original garments and their ads. BTW, I think it’s great if you want to re-post some of your earlier articles–it’s always good to get a second change to read what we missed the first time around.

That is so neat. I have a Catalina sweater too. It looks very similar with the tie ends and has the same label and everything. What’s unique about mine is it has almost pyramid stud style buttons. http://maryvannote.com/blog/2011/12/22/3-outfits-til-christmas/

I see blog design as a very personal thing. I have purposefully kept the look of this one uncluttered because I tend to find blogs that have a lot of things going on to be distracting. I want people to come for the content, which is really more about fashion history and issues than about a vintage lifestyle.
I’m quite proud of the fact that this blog is over seven years old. That’s really old in blog years!
