It’s Christmas Eve and the first day of Hanukkah, and I wish all my readers a peaceful holiday season. To celebrate, I’ve got two books to giveaway, Couture Sewing Techniques by Claire Shaeffer, and Modern Fashion in Detail, by Claire Wilcox and Valerie Mendes. Both are duplicates from my library, and both are excellent.
Claire Shaeffer is well-known as a sewing teacher and Chanel expert, but she has also studied other couturiers techniques extensively. And while the book is aimed at people who sew, anyone interested in couture will love this book.
Modern Fashion in Detail really should be titled 20th Century Fashion, as it covers the work of designers from Lucille to Christian Lacroix. It’s a fascinating look at the details.
To enter, just leave a comment telling which book (or even both of them) you would love to own. I’ll ship worldwide so the drawing is open to all. I’ll pick the winners on New Years Day.
I want to thank all of you who have supported my research and collecting with your readership and comments. It is truly delightful having a wonderful group of textile and fashion history lovers who are willing to help me solve my little mysteries and who give encouragement. I wish you all peace.
Hi, Lizzie, and Merry Christmas to you and your family! If I’m eligible to enter/win, I’d love Claire’s book. I need all the help I can get! xo

I would love a copy of Fashion in Detail! While the devil is always in the detail, the results are angelic masterpieces! The study of construction makes one really appreciate how the garments become greater than the individual parts. Thank you for a fantastic year of endliess revelations and gloriohs discoveries. We live for your travels through the eras of fasion. I look forward to the coming year!

Those books look amazing! After graduating in styling and design I’ve been focussing more on costume history. Wanting to eventually work in a museum as a curator. So this would be a great addition to my small library.
In short: I would love to win both of these books!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Love,
A reader.

Happy New Year!
I would love the Modern Fashion in Detail. I have been a collector of vintage and a seller on eBay and ETSY since 2001. But sewing is what I really love, if I don’t win, at least I have a new mission when I visit my favorite used book store. So thank you for all of the priceless information you give so freely in your blog. I enjoy the history so much.
Best regards,
